Feed Quality Case Study
Independent lab results from birds raised on Red Bridge Farm Feed
Why Feed Quality Really Matters
If youâre raising your own chickens, ducks, goats, or other livestock, itâs probably because you care about what goes into your animalsâand what comes back to your family as eggs, meat, and milk you can trust.
But even the best-raised animals canât give you their best if the feed isnât right.
Whatâs the Issue with Conventional Feed?
Most common livestock feed today is built for the lowest cost, not real nutrition. Itâs typically corn- and soy-based and often stored for weeks or even months before it ever reaches your animals.
That combination degrades nutrients and leads to imbalanced fats, especially excess omega-6s, something most modern diets already have too much of and not enough omega-3s to balance.
Over time, nutritional imbalance affects:
- The nutritional quality of meat, milk, and eggs
- The type of fats you and your family consume
- The long-term health and resilience of your animals
Even home-raised animals can end up producing nutritionally weaker food if theyâre eating the same unbalanced feeds used in industrial systems.
What Sets Our Feed Apart
At Red Bridge Farm, we built our feed to solve the problems we saw with conventional feed. From the beginning, we formulated our feed with purposeâpulling in multiple omega-3-rich ingredients, leaving out corn, soy, and fluff, and milling everything fresh to order.Â
We believed this approach would matter. Then we put it to the test.
The Results Speak for Themselves
Our friends at Osprey Hill Farm sent one of their pastured chickens for independent nutrient testing. The birds had been fed 100% Red Bridge Farm Feed.
The analysis came back with an omega 3:6 ratio of 1:2. Thatâs up to 7x better than whatâs typically found in pastured or conventional poultry (often closer to 1:12â1:15).
That confirmed what we set out to do from the start: deliver cleaner fat and stronger, balanced nutrition through better feed.
